... gone photographing...
August
I am still working on scanning images to put up here on my website, however the allure of photographing instead has been too strong. The city, the leaves of winter trees, the city in its various shades of light and dark. And soon I will be heading off to Victoria for a couple of weeks to spend time with the landscape and my large format photographer friends... we'll explore a 400 acre property, camp, photograph, probably drink red wine at night and tell stories. Should be fun! Hence we will need a little longer to fill those "online soon" spots! I've also be experimenting a little with colour... abstracts... more soon.
July 2009
I am exploring the city lights at the moment, inspired by the extraordinary variation day by day, moment by moment as sun, clouds dance across the city scape. For the first time I am living in a place swathed in city lights and perhaps for the first time I can see what all the fuss is about and why some architects are so passionate about their sky scrapers. This is a curious phenomenon to me as I am normally far more interested in trees and people and known as a bit of a greenie... Nevertheless... one morning recently I awoke to find a 10 minute window where the city was swathed in an extraordinary golden light.... everything else as it should be but the city gold. Another day it was wrapped in a sliver light, homogenising the buildings into some kind of implicit commune... hard to take eyes off to set up a camera, so wonderful simply to experience....
Watch this space...
